Surgery as a treatment for cancer refers to the removal of tissue from your body. It is one of the major treatments for various types of cancer.
This is the use of anti-cancer drugs to destroy cancer cells. You may have different types of chemotherapy drugs or just have only one depending on:
- The type of cancer you have
- Your current general health
- How far your cancer has spread
- How the cancer cells look like using a microscope
Currently, there are more than 100 different chemotherapy drugs.
As part of treatment for cancer, radiotherapy uses radiation, especially x-rays, to kill cancer cells.

Stem cell or bone marrow transplants are treatments for various types of cancer including some types of myeloma, lymphoma, and leukemia.
Other cancer treatments include palliative treatment, complementary and alternative therapies, radiofrequency ablation, laser treatment, HIFU (High intensity focused ultrasound), photodynamic therapy, ultraviolet light treatment and cryotherapy.
